Joe Russo’s Almost Dead

There's no better way to welcome the summer than with a high energy JRAD show at the beautiful Westville Music Bowl! Between the kind and accommodating staff and colorful fans, the bowl was full of excitement and dance moves.

JRAD opened the night with a smooth jam leading into Eyes of the World, a perfect song for the New Englanders breaching the winter months, "right outside the lazy gate of winter's summer home". Next up the boys played a powerful The Music Never Stopped followed by a famously loved Beatles tune, Here Comes the Sun. As the Beatles cover filled the air Joe Russo's daughters came right up on stage to show the band how its done. With a rock and roll enthused stage presence and toy guitars, the kiddos kept the show rocking and stuck around to finish up the rest of the set with us.

JRAD opened up the second set with a personal favorite of mine, St. Stephen, followed by I Need A Miracle and Ramble on Rose. Mid set they played out a Scarlet Begonias into Fire on the Mountain where Marco Benevento's kids came up to sit in on some vocals and piano.

The night was closed out no better way than with a flaming Good Lovin' encore, leaving the crowd bouncing and feeling full!

Opening night was truly a family affair and a fantastic way to get everyone back outside after a long winter of indoor shows.

Until next time!
